Be part of this global day of generosity
by supporting young people like these two mates, Patrick and Scott.
Generous donations from supporters like you have helped Muscular Dystrophy NSW provide quality services and programs when kids, adults and families need them the most.

Patrick and Scott are great friends and they would like to share their story with you to show how your donation makes an impact.
They’re proudly representing the neuromuscular community by volunteering at Coogee Surf Lifesaving Club as Radio Surveillance Officers this year; they also love going to MDNSW young adults retreats and participating in the Peer Collective catch ups.
By donating during GivingTuesday you will be supporting more programs like the MDNSW and Coogee Surf Lifesaving partnership and others.

This is Scott Green, he is 23 and lives with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. "I've been involved in a lot of Muscular Dystrophy NSW's programs, including Summer Camps, Adventure Camps and completed both my Bronze and Silver Duke of Ed awards. I've also been to Young Adults Weekend a couple of times and I've met most of my closest friends through these programs.", says Scott.
This is Patrick Nolan. He is 21 years old and at the age of just 12, he lost the ability to walk due to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. It was a moment that left him feeling hopeless. After meeting his best mate Scott at MDNSW’s Adventure Camp 10 years ago, he’s never looked back.
"My mindset now is that there’s too much for me to do. I’ve got so many opportunities. Like Project Libertas - you wouldn’t even think for a minute that someone in a wheelchair would be able to be part of surf lifesaving. But we are.", Patrick says.

How your donation makes a difference
-
Empowerment: Ensure children with muscular dystrophy can attend overnight camps to experience teamwork, try new challenges and build confidence, plus make friends and have fun!
-
Independence: Support a young person with muscular dystrophy to learn independent living skills, get out into the community and strengthen peer relationships at our Young Adults Weekends.
-
Connection: Help connect peers living with muscular dystrophy to share lived experience, problem solve and cultivate community through our Peer Connect groups like Power Hour.

About GivingTuesday
& MDNSW Christmas Appeal
GivingTuesday focuses on one simple thing: GENEROSITY. This campaign has spread to more than 50 countries across the world and each country participates on the same day, which brings together individuals and communities from across the world to celebrate generosity together on Tuesday, 29 November 2022.
Muscular Dystrophy NSW is inviting you to celebrate #GivingTuesdayAUS as a special 'double your impact' donation day for MDNSW's Christmas Appeal 2022.
By donating on GivingTuesday you'll double your impact and donations for the muscular dystrophy community, thanks to a generous gift match supporter that will double every donation up to $10,000!

What is Muscular Dystrophy ?
Muscular Dystrophy is a neuromuscular, genetic disorder which results in the progressive deterioration of muscle strength and function. Muscular Dystrophy is the name of one of many different neuromuscular conditions.
Neuromuscular conditions can affect people at different stages of their lives and onset of symptoms can occur from birth to adulthood, depending on the condition.
The rate of progression and pattern of inheritance also varies depending on the condition and the individual.
For more information about what we do and the services we provide for the muscular dystrophy community see out website mdnsw.org.au.
