Roxanne is ready to Rock N Run too!

I was going to do the run on my own, however in a show of support for the cause, a champion in Roxanne Piggott is joining me in the half marathon. Go team!

I am Fundraising for Muscular Dystrophy

Hi! 

I am raising support for Muscular Dystrophy NSW by running in a half marathon (21.1km). The event is the Nepean Half Marathon "Run and Rock event" on Saturday 29th March, 2025.

My son Adam has Myotonic Dystrophy, a muscular disease related to many of the insipid muscular diseases. Adam recently suffered a heart attack and currently is doing his best to stave off the disease and live as normal a life as he can. He does so for himself, his son Charlie and his wife Mel and the rest of his family and friends. 

40,000 people in Australia live with Muscular Dystrophy, a neuromuscular, genetic disorder which results in the progressive deterioration of muscle strength and function. The onset of the disease is normally not noticed till your teens or into your 20's and continues to weaken and eat away at the muscles and the body.

Adam's cousin Mathew also suffered from the disease and after a heart attack went into a coma for almost 3 years, finally passing away recently. Mathew's mother Deb, my wife's sister, could not cope with visiting him and how Mathew was, and she also is no longer with us! Rest in Peace!

Why I am doing this? 

Following heart bypass surgery where every one of my arteries was 95% blocked , I decided I wanted to make a difference. In doing a half marathon at 71 and supporting this Association, hopefully I can make that difference. I have been given the all clear by my cardiologist to do the run.

So my hope is that one of the dollars I raise is the dollar that moves the research to going closer to curing peoples live's from this insipid disease!
