I am Fundraising for Big Red Roll + Stroll
I love being part of the MDNSW community, building awareness of neuromuscular conditions and ensuring the rights of people with disabilities are upheld. I’m a social worker by training and get to do all these things in my role as the Peer Connect Coordinator at MDNSW. I have lived with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) for 47 years, and love connecting with my fellow SMArties for support, fellowship and fun!
On Sunday 20 March myself and a group of my pals will be rolling and strolling along the Parramatta River to raise awareness and funds for MDNSW awesome programs like Peer Connect. We will charge up our batteries, hope the sun is shining and roll 5km along the Parramatta Riverside Cycleway, before gathering or a big BBQ lunch. We can’t wait for the chance to re-connect and have some fun after Covid has kept us isolated for so long! Let’s hope the Big Red Roll n Stroll doesn’t become the Big Wet Paddle & Swim as our powerchairs aren’t waterproof!
Another special reason I have chosen to be an Ambassador for the Big Red Roll & Stroll, is that is a lovely way to pay tribute to my late husband Danny who lived with Duchenne MD. I will be dedicating my roll ‘In Memoriam’ to Danny and to all my friends with NMCs I have lost over the years.
I invite everyone to join our team SMArties and Friends, sponsor our roll or go virtual and do your own roll or stroll in support of the MDNSW community. The time has come to rally together and strengthen the community who have faced so many challenges the past 2 years.
Please help me smash my fundraising goal by donating today, and together we can support people living with a neuromuscular condition to live the life they choose!
Thank you so much for your support!
